Thin Mints Are Officially Vegan

While lovers of Girl Scout cookies in certain parts of U.S. have had vegan options for awhile, those in the Southeast haven’t been so lucky. Until this year, that is.

To clarify the cookie situation, the Girl Scouts of America contract with two bakers: ABC and Little Brownie Bakers.

They divvy up the country, servicing different areas, and while ABC has previously offered a few different varieties of animal product-free cookies, Little Brownie Bakers just opted into a vegan option this year.

In Southeast Florida and other regions serviced by Little Brownie, Thin Mints are officially vegan as of 2015. Hallelujah.

In response to my questions, ABC said they use beet sugar. Therefore there is no concern that their sugar has been processed with bone chars. Little Brownie uses regular cane sugar so bone chars may have been used in the processing. It says on the cookie boxes which company made them.
